Getting Started

How to Start Trading

A step-by-step guide to opening your first leveraged position on Amplifi.

Prerequisites

  • An email address or any EVM wallet
  • USDC on Polygon (you can bridge from Ethereum or other chains)

Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Sign in

Go to amplifi.finance/markets and click Sign in. Use your email or any EVM wallet. Email sign-ins get a wallet created for you.

  2. Deposit USDC

Click Deposit and enter the amount of USDC you want to use as trading margin. Your USDC is transferred to your Amplifi deposit wallet on Polygon, a TEE wallet created specifically for you.

    ℹ️ Info

Minimum deposit is $2. Your deposit wallet address is deterministic and unique to your account.

  3. Browse markets

Explore available Polymarket markets on the main screen. Markets are organized by category: crypto, politics, sports, and more. Each market shows the current price, 24h volume, and available leverage.

  4. Pick a direction and leverage

Select a market and choose your position:

    • Yes or No — your directional bet
    • Leverage — from 1x to 10x (varies by market, price, and liquidity)
    • Margin — the amount of your own capital to put up

The UI shows you the total position size (margin x leverage) and the number of shares you will receive.

  5. Review the preview

Before confirming, review the order preview:

    FieldWhat it means
Entry priceThe price you're buying shares at
Liquidation priceThe price at which your position will be automatically closed
Position sizeTotal value of your position (margin x leverage)
SharesNumber of Polymarket conditional tokens you'll hold
FeesThe trading fee for this position (see Fees)

    ⚠️ Warning

The liquidation price is not static. It adjusts based on orderbook depth and accrued interest. If liquidity thins out, your liquidation price moves closer to the current price.

  6. Confirm and trade

Click Confirm to open your position. Amplifi will:

    1. Borrow from the lending pool (if leveraged)
    2. Execute the trade on Polymarket's orderbook
    3. Begin monitoring your position in real-time

Your position appears in the Positions tab immediately.

What to expect after opening

Monitoring your position

Your position card shows real-time P&L, current market price, and distance to liquidation. The liquidation price is displayed as a red line on the price chart.

Closing your position

Click Close on any open position. Amplifi sells your shares on the Polymarket CLOB at the best available bid, repays any outstanding loan, and returns the remaining equity to your deposit wallet.

If you get liquidated

If the market price reaches your liquidation threshold:

  1. Amplifi automatically sells your shares
  2. The loan is repaid from the proceeds
  3. A liquidation penalty is applied (a percentage of your initial margin — currently 10%)
  4. Any leftover equity stays in your deposit wallet

You do not lose your entire margin — the liquidation triggers with equity remaining (the Layer 1 threshold ensures ~30% of your equity is preserved at trigger time, before execution slippage and fees).

Withdrawing

Click Withdraw to move USDC from your deposit wallet back to your connected wallet. Withdrawals are processed on Polygon and typically complete within seconds. A small gas fee ($0.20) is deducted to cover the Polygon transaction.

Tips

  • Start small — Open a small position first to understand how leverage, liquidation prices, and the close flow work.
  • Watch the liquidation price — It is dynamic. Thin orderbooks push it closer to the current price. Deep liquidity gives you more room.
  • Use take-profit orders — Set a take-profit to automatically close your position at a target price without watching the screen.
  • Understand market resolution — When a market resolves, winning positions pay $1/share and losing positions pay $0. You do not need to close manually — redemption is automatic.
